Receiving same email repeatedly

Hello

Three days ago I started getting the same email, dated 30 August, over and over.  Each time "get message" polls, it just picks up that old email and none of my new ones.  I am using Thunderbird on a PC running Windows XP.  Can anyone tell me whats going on please, and how to fix it?

Try logging into your account via VM webmail, https://mail2.virginmedia.com/

Locate the troublesome email and delete it.  

This should then get the emails flowing again in Thunderbird.
