Re: Recovery of deleted email

My email inbox and deleted emails completed deleted on Tuesday, I haven’t done this and very upset that I have lost all my emails.
I had a lot of important emails and some from my late Father, which I so upset about.
I have just read on here that someone else has had the same problem.
I rang virgin media to see if they could be retrieved from their server and was told that the ntlworld emails have no server and nothing could be done.
I have spent three stressful days trying to retrieve my emails, I am so upset with virgin media’s response, seems like a system error with other people reporting the same thing.
can anyone help please

Re: Recovery of deleted email

@Mazzamoola  Sorry to read of your current email problem.

The Ntlworld email domain and associated servers still exist and are in fact the same as those used by virginmedia.com email addresses as well as blueyonder.co.uk and virgin.net addresses.

Do you have a current VM broadband account of which the email account concerned is part?

These 'mysterious' disappearances of emails from the account usually result from an unintended consequence of accessing them via the IMAP server settings often when using an Apple device.

I take it that you have already checked the VM Mail webmail server at https://mail2.virginmedia.com/ and the emails concerned are not in the trash folder.

Re: Recovery of deleted email

Well firstly the ‘ntlworld email have no server’ is complete rubbish, of course it does, something has to receive and store the email. However, if the email has been deleted then, unfortunately it’s gone, VM don’t retain any backups, (for very good practical and legal reasons),  the onus is on you, the customer to keep such backups.

Now having said that, the first thing you need to do is to log into the webmail view of your mailbox at https://mail2.virginmedia.com and see if the emails are there. If not, then I am afraid realistically they’re gone.

Re: Recovery of deleted email

Hi Graham,

Thank you so much for your email, I really appreciate it.
I do have a VM Broadband Account, which my email is associated with.
I also do use Apple Devices and have done for quite a number of years.
I spoke to VM support yesterday and they told me they don’t have servers, which I found hard to believe at the time.
Thank you for your information Graham and will keep trying to sort out this problem, it has been so upsetting and stressful.

I have tried the web Mail but going to click on your link and try again.

thank you, fingers crossed m
