Re: Emails are being blocked with MXIN611 From header check failed

Hi, apologies if i'm re-igniting an old thread but I've just started experiencing these non-delivered emails from mailer-daemon and have no technical knowledge of email to know what they mean or how to rectify.

The error message is as follows....

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients was aborted after 37 minute(s):

* **************@blueyonder.co.uk

Reason: This is the mail system at host know-smtprelay-9-imp.

I am sorry to have to inform you that your message, "Pic", has not yet been delivered to **************@blueyonder.co.uk .

The remote server returned the below error when attempting delivery:

421:421-4.2.0 MXIN611
421-4.2.0 From header check failed
421 4.2.0 ;id=TuAbjCBAPVxLrTuAbj9Vxn;sid=TuAbjCBAPVxLr;mta=mx5.tb;dt=2020-04-29T23:23:05+02:00;ipsrc=80.0.253.73;

I've received the same message when sending both from my laptop and iPhone to my own email address **************@blueyonder.co.uk

Any help would be gratefully received as I'm not receiving emails from trusted sources either.

Re: Emails are being blocked with MXIN611 From header check failed

Hello Bemmy1

Sorry to hear of the email issues but thanks for raising this via the forum.

Can you confirm if this is the only email address you're unable to send emails to? Do you get the same message when sending emails to other addresses?Also have you been able to send emails to this address previously or is this the first time?

Thanks

Rob

Re: Emails are being blocked with MXIN611 From header check failed

@Robert_P

Based on the error message - the problem isn't the address he's sending to, rather it's the address he's claiming to send From: when sending via Virgin Media's servers

MXIN611 comes from Virgin Media's inbound mail exchanger and it is saying that it's not happy with the address in the From: header.

@Bemmy1 There should be some files attached to the bounce message.  If you look at them in a text editor one of them will contain the headers from the sent message as well as one containing the message including the headers. and the third contains the error message again.

It would be interesting to see the domain in the From header in one of those attachments.

Re: Emails are being blocked with MXIN611 From header check failed

@Robert_P

This has been happening for a little while, I first noticed it when I tried to send myself some pictures off of my iPhone but they wouldn't go through. I'm not aware of any issues sending emails to other addresses, I only get the message off of my own address.

Re: Emails are being blocked with MXIN611 From header check failed

That's odd as there is nothing that leaps out at me as being wrong there 😞

It's clearly being sent out by Virgin Media's outbound relay and the outbound relay is quite happy with the From: address as it's signed it using DKIM.

I've tried a similar send myself and the mail got through ok.  @Robert_P This looks as if it needs escalating to the email team to find out what's happening on the inbound side of the send.

Re: Emails are being blocked with MXIN611 From header check failed

Thanks Tony, I've had a look and it appears that you're a former customer, is this correct? If so it may explain why the email isn't working as after your cable account gets disconnected, your email address will be automatically deleted after 90 days which we won't be able to reverse.

Regards,

Lisa

Re: Emails are being blocked with MXIN611 From header check failed

So I have to change my email address with everyone after 20 odd years? Wow, that's going to be an issue!

If I get a problem logging in  to a site I havent used for a while an email will be sent to @blueyonder address - how do I access it to change my password/email address?

Why am I only getting issues sending emails to myself - no other problems?
