Possible problem forwarding to Virgin mailbox

I've my own domain through NamesCo which forwards to my Virgin email boxes.

Over the past couple of days I've had many reports of emails to my domain bouncing, I've tried this and can confirm it's happening with most emails - some get through though.  I've raised a support ticket with NamesCo but also thought I'd raise it here as others may be suffering

It looks to me like SpanHaus has flagged the NamesCo server and VM are using that list and blocking emails.

Re: Email forwarding and blacklisted IP

I've had a problem this weekend with incoming emails routed via my own domain are being bounced back to the sender rather than being delivered to my VM mailbox.  It looks like one of the NamesCo servers may have been listed on the SpamHaus RBL and Virgin is rejecting all messages routed in via that server.  I posted a message on here a couple of days ago and also raised a support ticket with NamesCo to try and get to the bottom of it.

I suspect it's not a VM problem as such, but does have an affect on us users.

Emails I send via the Virgin SmartHost are going OK and this won't related by my VM dynamic IP.

Re: Possible problem forwarding to Virgin mailbox

Is this still happening?

I note that the IP appears to have been delisted.

Re: Possible problem forwarding to Virgin mailbox

I also use Namesco for my domain, although it's all hosted in my case and I access Namesco's SMTP & IMAP servers directly.

If any testing/diagnosis is needed @ravenstar68 - ask away. I'm nowhere near your level of expertise with all things email, but happy to muck in here if it helps.

Re: Possible problem forwarding to Virgin mailbox

@japitts Are you able to set up a Forward rule (maybe using a specific subject) to send mail on to your Virgin Media address, and then drop me a PM with the address and any proposed subject to trigger the rule?

Tim

@CurlyKylie Is it possible I could try sending to your domain?  If so drop me a PM

Re: Possible problem forwarding to Virgin mailbox

It's seems to be working fine now and the NamesCo server has been removed from SpahHaus block list.

Re: Possible problem forwarding to Virgin mailbox

I did note that the server my mail exchanger was talking to was different.

Interestingly your host doesn't appear to be responding to Greylisting efficiently.  I've had a couple of attempts to deliver mail from your address to mine, both from different IP addresses.

Re: Possible problem forwarding to Virgin mailbox

I'm not sure if Namesco did something in the background besides getting the server delisted.

Both of my attempts to send mail to @japitts resulted in the my server talking to talking to

85.233.160.21

I asked japitts to send me back the mail I sent as an attachment and confirmed that this was also the IP talking to VM's inbound server

The previous IP that was being rejected was

85.233.160.22
