hello, I have as my primary ntlworld.com email address .

I also had a personal .com domain email address that seems to have disappeared. It is not appearing anywhere in my account set up and I can't send or receive using this. This is used as my business email address as well as the one mainly used by friends and contacts. 

Where has it gone ?

I attempted to set it back up by adding a new email address but that only supports virginmedia.com addresses.

Virgin Media don't have any control over third party email addresses - you'd need to contact the company that provides the email service to find out what's gone on

For third party email addresses it's possible to add them to webmail, but that wouldn't ever appear as under My Virgin Media as a mailbox.
