Old, inactive virgin.net account still forwarding a heap of junk mail to my current address

Years ago, I had a virgin.net account, and when I was closing the account, I set up a forwarding to my new email address assuming I could cancel once I had sorted out contacting people about my new address.

Well, years on, and I am seeing a whole stack of junk mail coming through from that defunct virgin.net address.

How can I get the forwarding to stop?

Any help appreciated.

Hey imacken, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear you are having some emails issues.

Please can you let me know what email software you use for example is it Outlook?

You could also set a rule up to put these type of emails right into the junk / spam folder? Thanks

Thanks Matt.

I use emClient on PC and Apple Mail on various devices.

What I would ideally like, is to stop the forwarding of emails to that defunct account.

Accounts should automatically be closed down within 90 days of leaving our services, however I can certainly check and arrange that this is completed for the email address in question. 

I will send you a PM to confirm a few account details and arrange this for you. You will find the PM in the top right corner of the page in your Inbox 📩

We can then return to this public thread with an update when possible. All the best 🌞

Huge thanks to imacken for their patience via PM ✉ whilst we got this sorted. The mailbox is now confirmed as deleted and any issues resolved.
