@1877 If you are relying on the Virgin Media Mail webmail view of your email account then look for any folders below the standard Inbox, Sent, Spam etc. particularly for folders under the heading of Gmail or Google Mail.
Over the years VM have used several different partners to operate their webmail system. When Google apps withdrew their service around 2016, if I remember correctly, all previous emails were supposed to be moved to a set of folders under the Gmail label.
If this isn't the case for you then you will have to use whatever backup option you employ to save important emails.
