Can you log in to your Virginmedia account and check that the email address is still linked to it?

I'm afraid you are out of luck then, as Virgin will only deal with the account holder.

There must be a way to contact somebody - any ideas, anybody?

The VM Forum Team (Staff) will reach this thread in a day or so, however, they are unlikely to tell you anything different to that already posted. The email account 'belongs' to your ex and VM will only deal with them. You ex has the option to delete the email address from their account at any time they chose.

I’ve been using the address for 10years and suddenly it’s gone, I’ve read that virgin are cleaning up these old accounts and I’m trying to get my head around if this is part of that procedure. I think it unlikely my ex has done this - I have no way to contact her. So I was hoping to speak to someone at virgin who could tell me. All I want Is to retrieve archived data.

So, having found myself in the position where I can’t get access to my ntlworld emails where/who/how do I recover from 20 odd years of archived data.?
I am divorced from the account holder so do not have the account details!
all I want is to retrieve my archived stuff and go elsewhere
any help would be gratefully received

There are a few different scenarios as to what has happened and I'll try to explain the outcomes for each of them
1) Virgin Media may have deleted the account
Virgin Media no longer issues new VM email accounts but they only close email accounts that are not linked to a current VM broadband account. However, your ex wife might well have switched to using a different broadband provider in which case, as per VM's terms and conditions, VM should have deleted all the email accounts linked to it. In that case your email account is gone for good and you can never recover the emails it held.
2) Your wife may have deleted the account.
She may still be with VM but she could have deleted this Ntlworld email account. If that is the case, then again your email account is gone for good and you can never recover the emails it held.
Or,
3) The Ntlworld email account still exists but you cannot access it
It may have developed a problem of some sort (VM email accounts are prone to that) or possibly your wife may have changed the password. In those cases, your access to the account has been removed but the email account might still be recoverable. The problem for you is that, as has previously been said, VM will only deal with the main broadband account holder, your ex wife.
You said in an earlier post "I was hoping to speak to someone at virgin".
The straight answer is that to do that you will have to either:
I do sympathise with you and I can understand that you just want to recover your old emails. However, as I said in 1) and 2), if the email account has been deleted that is just not going to possible.
If the email account itself does still exist, I don't like say this, but I think it is unlikely that you will get the result you want without the co-operation of your ex wife.
Sorry I cannot be more hopeful.

Thank you for spending the time to explain the situation, I do appreciate it.
Looks like it’s a non starter, so I’ve been spending the day advising my bank etc of a new email address.
again thank you
