Whilst troubleshooting the issue send urgent emails via webmail

It would be helpful to see what, if any, error code is returned by the SMTP server in this situation. On a desktop or laptop device open a Command Shell in Windows or otherwise a Terminal. and enter the following where username:password is replaced with your email address and password, i.e. richard.branson@virginmedia.com:Y54kpX5g:

curl -v smtps://smtp.virginmedia.com -u username:password

Do not post the resulting output here but instead review it for possible reported causes and then post just the redacted part here or the VM error code.

HI rabbit1gs, thanks for the message and sorry to hear that you are having issues with the sign in.

Does this happen with multiple browsers?

Can you confirm if you have done what 用心棒 has asked?

Has this now been resolved or do you still require assistance?

Kind regard, Chris.

My email just says no password provided even though it’s correct and in the box.
anyone know what the problem is.

Is this happening in an email client or webmail; can you post a redacted screenshot?

Hi Chris,

this is happening on my iPhone and iPad.

I’ve not done what 用心棒 asked as I’ve no idea what he means.🤷‍♂️

I deleted the email on my iPad and reinstalled it without any joy then I reset everything and still no joy. the password is showing in the box but obviously it’s not being recognised for some reason.

there are no codes or anything to say what’s wrong, it just says no password provided even though there is.

This has happened on my iPhone and iPad.
I have 2 email addresses 1 is ok but the ntl one isn’t.

it’s in the app where you set up an email account.
I’ve tried deleting the account and reinstalling it but it didn’t work.

It’s saying no password but when I go into settings it’s showing my password. 🤷‍♂️

Hi rabbit1gs,

Thank you for your posts.

We are very sorry to hear of the issues with the email service on your iPhone and iPad.

Sadly the screenshot you have provided has not been approved so I am unable to see this sorry.

Are you using webmail or a client to access the service?

Can you please try resetting the password for your account using a browser as this has helped with similar issues.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks,

Nat

Do you have access to desktop / laptop device that is connected to the same network as your mobile devices? Yes then if it is running:

  • Microsoft Windows, open a Command Shell window
  • otherwise , open Terminal application

then follow the previous instructions; best to just post the VM error code here.

It won’t let me reset password and looks like my email account has been locked now as I can’t get on them at all. Even on my Virgin media, it was only on my phone and iPad now it’s on everything. Getting really annoyed!!!! I’ve tried loads of passwords and it says can’t have that password. Might just go to another company and sod Virgin off. Waste of time.
