Re: Not receiving all email

I am getting same issue with my critical email getting delayed by more than 5 mins , with this delay I am unable to login to my bank (in another country), further causing me delays to submit documents to the UK Court, now triggering compliance issue due to these delays. I am left with no option but to submit to the court all the delays cited in this forum being reason for my inability to submit documents in time. I logged issue with my bank only to be confirmed at their end that emails are sent instantly. Struggling with this issue for nearly 10 days. Looking at this forum and checking the header of the emails sent by my banks the culprit seems to be.

the IP address 212.54.59.72 (md4.tb.ukmail) is taking 5 mins to process and send email. The same has been reported for sending Spam emails and has been reported to Police (https://www.liveipmap.com/212.54.59.72)

I am wondering why Liberty Global sitting on it, Xmas and New Year is over, please come back to work...

Re: Not receiving all email

5 minutes is not anything the courts will care about. Plus if it was that important why are you using a free email service and not a paid for one that you have control over.

Excuses like that wont slide with anyone

With regards to the spam report.  That IP address didn't send the spam.  Whoever reported it doesn't have a clue looking at the headers in the report.

The spam in the report actually came from the IP address I've indicated in red, Whereas:

md11.tb.ukmail.iss.local

Is an internal server on the receiving chain of Virgin media's system.  (.local. is a special DNS domain that means a machine on the same network BTW)

With regards to mail delays.  The single line you've posted doesn't demonstrate a delay on it's own, you need to post the following Received: line as well.

I've just sent a test mail into the Virgin email system and the mail arrived at my end with no delay.

Subject: Checking Delay

That one shows no delay but a subsequent mail I received from Google shows a delay of 5 minutes on the md2 server

Googledelay.png

So I feel there may be something new developing.  But Virgin Media may not see a 5 minute delay as critical at this time.  Certainly it's something that's allowed for in the email RFC's

Re: Not receiving all email

@AKATARIA

Incredible naivety! But, I suppose “drowning man clutches at straws” is actually true in this case.

NOBODY in the UK can guarantee delivery of an email from point A to point B within time X (and don’t even think about overseas). Why? Because there is no single authority in control of every sending, receiving and intermediate connection point in the UK communications networks, far less the power supplies to support them.

Have you tried this excuse yet - “Apologies for being 2 hours late for court your honour – it wasn’t my fault – the M25 was busy”.

Re: Not receiving all email

It has been 6 months now and the issue is still not resolved. I still continue to get my emails with 5 mins delay. What will it take to someone to remove the emails from Banks from Spam check, which is unnecessarily holding the email.

Here is the header information. Can someone at Virgin take up the responsibility to resolve it ? All it needs is to remove HDFCBANK from spam list.

Re: Not receiving all email

Hi Akataria,

Thanks for getting back in touch.

I would like to take a look at some of the details from our side so I am going to send a private message which you will find in the purple envelope.

Thanks

Re: Not receiving all email

@Natalie_L

I'd just like to add my assessment of the above post.

5 minutes delay is inconsequential when it comes to emails, my own system uses greylisting with a 15 minute delay.  There is nothing in the email standards that guarantees instant delivery.  In fact the RFC's were written with the consideration that a mail server might go down, so if a mail can't be delivered initially it retries at various intervals.  It is this feature that Greylisting takes advantage of.

That said, what is happening here IS NOT GREYLISTING!!!  Nor is it down to spam checking.  The Spam check takes place at the mail exchanger.  Once the exchanger receives the mail it adds the trace headers and then passes the mail to:

Received: from smtpclienthelo ([212.54.59.74])
by md5.tb.ukmail.iss.local with LMTP id aJBGB+bqO12HBQAAeXFZqA
   ; Sat, 27 Jul 2019 08:10:47 +0200

Now this part does indeed show a delay of 5 minutes, but it's NOT DOWN TO SPAM CHECKING.  This is an internal transfer on Ziggo's systems (Ziggo are the company that look after Virgin Media's email).

Normally we would see this mail transferred with just a few ms delay after this one.

Received: from emsrv-119135.trs.quickvmail.com ([45.115.119.135])
   by mx7.mnd.ukmail.iss.as9143.net with ESMTP
   id rFpyhy7MAHzkSrFpzhzgwV; Sat, 27 Jul 2019 08:05:47 +0200

BTW ( @AKATARIA  learn to use the code button </> when submitting email headers) and @ModTeam when masking email addresses, it helps if you DON'T remove the domain part).

Ziggo do definitely need to look at what's happening between - mx7.mnd.ukmail.iss.as9143.net and md5.tb.ukmail.iss.local

But as to the earlier claim that the 5 minute delay is causing AKATARIA to submit court documents late.  Any judge would rank that along similar lines of "My dog ate my court documents." and give him short shrift for such an excuse.

Tim
