No sent emails showing

I put his in the community natter & no response so probably in the wrong board

Hi i am having problems with my Sent files

When i send an email its not always showing up in my sent file. Where its on the virgin page on my desktop on any email client.

this has been going on for sometime. I need to check some emails I sent, but can’t find them, therefore can’t forward them to see if they were received

I have sent various emails today, but they are not showing up. Some of these are replies to other emails.

Obviously, i need a record of messages sent. Its not just the one email address i have noticed it also happens with my husband's email address.

Any ideas why this is happening?  or any solution

You have posted in the right place this time.

Having said that, this is not something I have experienced with any email account.

It's worth noting that if you and your husband usually manage your emails with an email client there is a choice of two protocols you can use.

IMAP which is the one most email clients default to. That will synchronise all your email folders in the email client and your VM email account. So if you are using Virgin's IMAP server in the email client's settings then emails you send from your email client should appear in the Sent folder in the email client and your VM webmail account on the VM website.

POP3 which is the older standard merely downloads new emails from your VM webmail account to your email client.  If you are using the pop.virginmedia.com server in your settings you should still be seeing the sent emails in the email client's Sent folder but they will never appear anywhere in your VM webmail account on the VM website.

Once you've made sure that you are using IMAP in your email client there are a couple of things I would check to trouble shoot the problem:

  1. Send a test message from your webmail account on the VM website and see if it appears in the sent folder of the webmail account. Then check to see if it also appears in the sent folder in your email client. If it does, that suggests there is a problem with the way your email client is storing emails sent from the client,
  2. Then check your email client to see if your sent messages are actually being stored in a different folder, perhaps drafts, spam or another email folder. As I said it is possible there is an error in the way the client is managing sent emails and is putting them in the wrong folder. If so, you may need to do some online searching to see if other users of that client have seen similar issues and how they solved it.

Post back with how you get on with those checks.

I have checked and the email client on my desktop is Outlook and that is IMAP, my client on my mobile which is my.com, that is also IMAP

I have also sent various tests from my phone to pc, from pc to phone via webmail and outlook client and now these seem to be showing in my sent file on all clients. but i have done nothing different. so unless there has been a few glitches recently not sure if there is anything else i can do.

Update

My email client ion my phone is my.com, when i send from there to any of my emails they re not showing up in their sent files  so it must be a problem with them, or course they say its the main domain. I have contacted them again to ask why. I have uninstalled & re installed thier app. all to no avail. Problem is i cannot find an email client for iphone that i am happy with. My.com (mymail) i beleive is part of Gmail. in the app store it comes up as myMail: email app for Gmail

Did you try sending test emails from webmail and if so, did they appear in the sent folder in webmail?
