Need to gain access to old email address

Hi

Don't know if it's possible but I need to gain access to an old email address that I had when I was a VM customer prior to changing supplier. I am now a VM customer again and I have a situation that ideally would need me to be able to access this old email address. Can anyone advise please?

If it's been closed down it cannot be revived, if it still exists it's possible, you could then do a move and transfer and it will be on your new account but your new email address will be deleted

Hi @337edy2,

Thank you for your post and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.

As @dannnylau has advised, if the email address you're referring to has been deactivated then this is a permanent change and we'd be unable to recover it for you. An email address is deactivated typically within 90 days of it no longer being linked to an active broadband account.

I'm happy to take a look for you, but if the above timeframe has elapsed then I'm afraid it's unlikely to be recoverable. I'll send you a private message in a few moments, so please respond to that when you can and we'll go from there.

Thanks,

Hi All

Thanks for the replies to my question. I suspect the account has been deleted. The time period that has elapsed exceeds those stated. I will need to find an alternative method to complete my task. Thanks.

It maybe worthwhile responding to Zach_R private message as Virgin Media have been known to not delete email accounts after the 90 day period expires.

Hi

Given the responses I have received up to this point it seems there's no definite rule for the deleting of old email addresses and their contents. Its likely that this stuff is lingering around in the ether somewhere. To be honest I'll have difficulty supplying some of the information requested. It's bad enough as it is the fact that I'm having to approach the community rather than the company I pay my bills to but it seems that's the way of things these days. That said, although it's not ideal I have kind of given up on the idea. I'm not sure I want to jump through flaming hoops and perform circus tricks in order to possibly gain access to it. I'd sooner find another method to achieve my goal that will be a little less taxing. I'll see what information I can find and make my response but I won't be able to provide old account numbers. Thanks anyway.

Hi @337edy2 thanks for your reply - I appreciate this can be difficult.

Please don't hesitate to message us again if you do have the necessary answers to the questions asked via PM.

Many thanks
