So ive always been with VM for my email and broadband up until the last year over covid moved to BT, myself and my wife still working email accounts which we use but unfortunately cant remember or use the forgotten password links on the VM site as they don't recognise my email addresses even thought im receiving still.
The site says it cant recognise
Im on with VM telephone but probably wont get through. Need someone to help as its making my wife feel very uncomfortable. Ive tried logging on with my old VM account but its not working.
So i called VM last night to try and explain the situation eventually go through to the call centre where it was impossivble to get through to the tech to describe whats happened. Even though i went through my address and details he then went through some security questions. I have my original account and my wifes both on @virginmedia.com.
They asked me some questions which i fully answers including some banking details. They said we must take your first answer and would not be able to get back into the account if i answered wrong is that correct?
We can no longer logon via the VM site using any old passwords or forgotten passwords as the accounts do not register.
1. Does Vm disconnect email accounts after a period of time?
2.What options do i have ?
3. Can VM reenable my email only account if im no longer with you?
4. All of my other services and social media goes through these email addresses so its important i need to get back into them somehow?
The email account is closed 90 days after you leave VM broadband, as detailed in your contract. You'll need to take up a new email service with another provider.
You need to have VM broadband in order to use their email. Email accounts are closed 90 days after you leave, as detailed in the broadband contract. Sometimes it takes longer before the cutoff.
Thanks for your post and apologies to hear you've decided to leave Virgin Media.
As mentioned by jpeg1 above, in order to have Virgin Media email, you would need to have an active Virgin Media broadband service. We don't provide an email service to non-customers I'm afraid.
Whilst the accounts would usually close down after 90 days, there are occasions where some accounts are missed so you get access for a little longer. We can only apologise if you were unaware of this.
There may be a chance we can get you some temporary access but I want to make it clear, it's not always possible and if it works, it is a one time thing so should we be able to get in to the account, you should use whatever time you have to migrate over to a new email address.
In order to help further, I will need to confirm some information with you. I have sent you a private message regarding this. Just click on the little plum envelope at the top right-hand side of the page to access your inbox.
