NTLworld Email BlockedAgain

Tuning in

I need advice please. Yet again my NTL email has been blocked. Message has issue with smtp server (iPhone message), whereas desktop has a message (code) saying I’ve been sending unstable emails, ahi has I haven’t. Got through to overseas Tech who couldn’t help as needs someone in UK; he transferred me to India who too couldn’t help. Can anyone help please. Thanks in advance

Many thanks Coenoby - my email is back working as so thank you for sorting. The email I received (but has disappeared now!) said I must have had some suspicious email activity and I should run my antivirus scan - I did this twice yesterday, along with the malwares scan and my PC is clean. Any idea why this happened? I did send over some AOL emails (from previous company work) to my NTL account so wonder if that was it??

Secondly, I cannot log into my NTL via webmail - which the tech person in Mauritius told me to do but the passwords didn't work; I set these up last week whilst on the phone to VM when Email went again, along with a local outage. Is the VM App password what you also use to log into webmail?? Look forward to your help again!

That sounds as if you are getting this error:

"< 421 csmtp6-prd-nl1-vmo.edge.unified.services csmtp6-prd-nl1-vmo.edge.unified.services Virgin Media has blocked your connecting IP xxxx Too many bad emails have been sent. Visit https://netreport.virginmedia.com/netreport Section: Email Sending Errors to request delisting"

However, it's possible that the mail app on your iPhone is not displaying the full error message.

If you are seeing that error message then you need to follow the advice it gives and go through Virgin Media's netreport process to get the block on your IP address removed:

Go to https://netreport.virginmedia.com/netreport/

  • select abuse type of Email Sending Errors from drop down list

  • select abuse form of Other from drop down list

  • paste the complete error message into the Log Evidence area

  • enter your name into My name field

  • enter your email address into Email address field

  • select Submit button

That should result in your IP address being delisted from VM's blocklist which allows you to start sending again.

Post back and advise and you get on with that.

Sorry for not coming back earlier - I have been out of action for a couple of days.

Just to clarify, the VM mail app password will only work as the password in the email settings of an email app, presumable that is what you are using on your iPhone.

To access the webmail account you have to use the "normal" password.

However, there is another complication. if you have set the mail app password you must have specified a non VM email address as the VM username. In that case when you sign into your webmail account you have to enter that non VM email address (rather than your VM email address) as the username. That will still take you to your VM webmail account - not the non VM email address.

I hope that helps, I know VM don't make it easy.
