Thanks Tim this sorted my issues out, I occasionally get this issue with outlook and POP3 where it appears the password / user gets rejected by the server, but generally after a few hours or the next day it sorts itself out.
However, this time it was all the ntlworld email accounts I use and for several days.
I did try using pop3.virginmedia.com and SMTP.virginmedia.com a few years ago but could never get it to work so stuck with pop3.ntlworld.com , probably the time I started to use the Recent: prefix.
