Manage email From addresses

When I Compose a new email using Webmail I frequently don't want it to come from the default 'From' address. I can use the dropdown list to select an alternative From address but is there any way to remove (or hide) entries from this dropdown list or change the default From address?

Re: Manage email From addresses

To set a default From address select , Settings, Email ▸, scroll to the bottom of web page and under Additional settings set the Default sender address

Re: Manage email From addresses

Tried that and it does let me select an alternative email address from amongst my old blueyonder addresses but not any of those I've added subsequently eg using my own domain name.

Any other suggestions?

@ModTeam, is the Default sender address setting feature broken; drop down list does not show additional email accounts?

Broken?

No, it'll be a "feature".

Re: Manage email From addresses

While not the answer @DAB412 is looking for, I do have a possible workaround, in that if you have a particular account highlighted when you press the compose button, then the From: address is set to that accounts address.

Edit - as an example if you look at my list of accounts here

mail accounts.PNG

When I hit compose The From: address is set to my personal email address.  If I want to send mails using my outlook.com address instead, I just highlight Outlook.  The account stays highlighted until I change it, so I can compose several mails in succession using a particular account.

It's not ideal - but it's worth considering.

Re: Manage email From addresses

@用心棒 forgive me - it's not a feature I've used before. Has it previously listed all of the email addresses set up on your MyVM account? Or just accounts that have been added to the mailbox?

Re: Manage email From addresses

@Kev_B

I can't say I've used the setting before but looking at how it works at the moment with a

  • blueyonder account
  • virginmedia account

The blueyonder one lets me select from the aliases for that mailbox.
The virginmedia one has no aliases so only lets me use the one address

It makes no sense that if you've added additional accounts, that the system can't set one of those as the default account to send as.

Re: Manage email From addresses

Thanks @ravenstar68

I've just tested with an account of mine and added an external IMAP account to it. I'm not presented the option to change the default 'from' address but when composing I can choose either.

Let me find out if this is caused by a change, or a problem with the service.
