Mailbox unavailable

My mail account was working fine, but I forgot the password, so I changed it through a main account as it is on a secondary account. I ended up changing it twice as it still didn't work trying to log in with that new password. After changing it again, it let me into my myvirginmedia account but when I try to go into email it says 

"Your mailbox is not available at the moment

Please retry again in one hour and make sure you are using the correct password to access your email from all of your devices."

I am awaiting very important emails which I need to open asap. Please, please can someone get this back and running for me, I would appreciate it

Was the new password one never previously used with the account; if not try resetting it again but with one that is?
