I have had this error happen to me. I phoned up the number given and was told an IT ticket would be raised and expect reply in 5 working days.
It has now been 14 days and have made 3 phone calls. Last one was this afternoon. The operator told me that there are no IT tickets. They said had reset my password and have to sign in for some other virgin media account (attempt to explain i can't get access to my emails fell on deaf ears).
So waited the 30 mins and guess what..... same error. No access to my email account.
