I also have an issue with the mailbox unavailable issue.
I am a current VM broadband customer and the email address concerned is correctly showing under my My Virgin Media profile as secondary account under Manage Accounts.
I have tried changing the password on the email address and it has not sorted the issue.

I have escalated this to the VM forum staff team and somebody will be along to resolve this.
