Hi, anybody experiencing similar Email download / connection issues, I'm using MS Outlook on a MacBook which won't download emails but will send OK ??!!

I've fixed with a pinhole reset on Hub previously but no luck with that solution now either, see attached error message.

Thanks in advance

Different environment but same issue seen yesterday however it was intermittent and thus did not impact IMAP folders nor delivery — issue is no longer occurring. Can you confirm if there are any outstanding messages to download by signing into webmail?

Hi, yes, still occurring, not downloaded since 15th December.

Did pinhole reset on router today, still won’t connect

I can receive emails on iPhone and even send from Outlook on MacBook, just won’t receive on Mac

Hi, see below for my mail settings, slightly different as I'm still using the ntlworld address / settings, thanks

Those settings are out of date and insecure. Make the following changes:

  • Incoming server to pop3.virginmedia.com, select Use SSL to connect (recommended) and confirm 110 automatically changed to 995, if not make the change manually
  • Outgoing server to smtp.virginmedia.com, select Use SSL to connect (recommended) and confirm 25 automatically changed to 465, if not make the change manually

Does issue persist after making these changes?

FYI regardless of domain (ntlworld.com, virgin.net, or blueyonder.co.uk) the recommended settings are as mentioned earlier.

Hi, yes, I've changed to the following below, the outgoing mail works fine on virginmedia but the incoming still won't connect which is very strange as they are identical to the mail settings on my iPhone which works fine.

Totally baffled 😞

Hi there @ms1609, thanks for reaching out to us and a warm welcome to the Virgin Media forums.

Have you checked to see if you have the correct recommended settings?
Let us know and we can investigate further from there.

Kind regards,
