I've had my account for over 20 years and suddenly all my emails in my inbox have disappeared and now begin at December 2021. I am desperate to find them as I have theatre tickets that need to be printed for tomorrow.
Any help would be appreciated
Is the email account linked to a current virginmedia broadband account?

You'll need help from one of the forum staff. Hopefully one of them will pick this up.
Sign into webmail and check the missing emails are not in your Trash folder?
FYI if the missing emails cannot be located in webmail then regrettably they are considered unrecoverable

Have you been able to log into it after a password reset?

The OP doesn't appear to have an issue with logging into their email account, it's losing all their emails from before December 2021 which is the problem.
If this is the case then a password reset will not resolve their problem.
