Lost access to email

Hello, I have lost access to my email. It appears that the account has been hacked about two days ago (I still had access and could see someone else in my emails) after contacting virgin about this they said they could change the passwords but also changed the main email on my account which may have caused me to loose access to my account.

Is there anything I can do? I've read the topic regarding: Orphan Email accounts that is pinned, I suspect the account was orphaned when virgin ]changed the main email address.. But unsure if this is the cause.. or if the hackers somehow still have access.

Is there anything that can be done now to regain access? Is it possible to check if the account is still there or if it has been deleted? Or is the only option now to have the account deleted if it has not already been done so.
