Login to server imap.virginmedia.com with username **********@virginmedia.com failed

Hello,

I have set up Linux Mint and using Thunderbird as my email client.
My Gmail account works flawlessly, but my virginmedia account continues to say

Login to server imap.virginmedia.com with username **********@virginmedia.com failed

The settings are as follows

Incoming server

Account name : **********@virginmedia.com
Server type : IMAP mail server
server name : imap.virginmedia.com   port 993
User name : **********@virginmedia.com
connection security SSL/TLS
Authentication method : normal password

 

Outgoing server

Description : Virgiin Media
Server name : smtp.virginmedia.com
Port :465
Uername : **********@virginmedia.com
Authentication method : normal password
connection security SSL/TLS

 

I have reset the password and am Sure that is correct (I can log in to the main Virgin media site with no problems, but cannot get to web mail, that just times out)
Can anybody see if I have any setting wrong please ???

Miscreants will abuse the personal information you have posted, select Option v to edit the post and redact your email address; have flagged to moderators as well.

No it isn't. Your e-mail address is still there under "Account name"

Bear with me this is a Totally new OS to me so I'm still finding my way around it, trying to sort everything along with that is a nightmare

PROBLEM SOLVED - IT WAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME AT ALL!

SOON AS WE COULD ACCESS THE WEBMAIL AGAIN I WAS MIRACULOUSLY LOGGED IN AND ALL MY MAIL, FOLDERS ETC APPEARED IN THUNDERBIRD. SO IT WAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME AT ALL!

NOW IF VIRGINMEDIA HAD ACTUALLY UPDATED THEIR STATUS PAGES I WOULDN'T HAVE WASTED SEVERAL HOURS ON THIS!

You seem to have developed a new problem, your caps lock key has got stuck.

For info the status pages only lists issues affecting significant numbers of users.  It doesn't report individual account issues, which it appears you were suffering from.

Good to see that all is now well.

It's also considered rude, and it makes your post hard to read. 

It may well have been a temporary fault or even a problem with your internet connection.  The latter is more likely as the only post on here today about webmail not responding was yours.

The status pages report issues that have been flagged by a large number of people, so while it can be useful, it's not something I personally rely on 100%.
