Is there a wildcard character for Virgin media Blacklist entries

The problem which I have is that I am being targeted by several persons from different ISP providers. Each time, the e-mail originator is changed, generally random keyboard characters, but from one of half a dozen ISP sources.

If I just mark each one individually, then pretty soon the Blacklist will reach unmanageable size.

If there were a wildcard character, then I would only need to have on Blacklist entry per ISP source.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Is there a wildcard character for Virgin media Blacklist entries

Create a filter rule with a condition similar to the following:

2021-01-05.jpeg
FYI: the above condition matches sender domains of spammer.com and spammer.net; to match further domains append | followed by additional domain

Re: Is there a wildcard character for Virgin media Blacklist entries

The problem, as I believe I said, is that, whilst the ISP data remains the same, the sender name, being randomly input characters, changes each time.

This is why I was hoping that I could use a wildcard for the sender identifier and use the actual ISP address for the rest.

Interesting that I am receiving these emails only through Virgin. Further, my wife is also receiving the same e-mails.

Her e-mail address only differs from mine in the case of her first name.

Re: Is there a wildcard character for Virgin media Blacklist entries

The Condition detailed is correct to match by sender domain, i.e. no matter what the user name any email coming from the example domains of spammer.com and spammer.net will be matched. To use the condition you need to replace the example domains with those of the ISP you wish to block; post those domain here if you need help creating the rule.

Re: Is there a wildcard character for Virgin media Blacklist entries

Unfortunately, I have to tell you that your solution does not work. My Blacklist now contains several instances with the same ISP but different user name data. (All random keyboard characters)

This would seem to contradict your idea that it only works from the ISP address.

Back to square one I’m afraid.

Thank you for your continued interest!

Re: Is there a wildcard character for Virgin media Blacklist entries

That is unexpected as the rule's condition matches against the domains listed in the Regex field Can you post that Regex field's text here?

Here is one which appears frequently, and below is a section of my Blacklist with the same sender shown.

I trust that this will help.

Re: Is there a wildcard character for Virgin media Blacklist entries

Former image was rejected because it contained unredacted ntlwork.com email address.

I was expecting an answer detailing the Regex field value, for example zoosk\.com|casios-sfc\.com

Did you even create a filter rule?

Of course I did! In the post which you are referring to, immediately above the Blacklist Image there was another image, which showed exactly what you show. Why it did not come out on what you received I have no idea. I shall try and post it again.

Re: Is there a wildcard character for Virgin media Blacklist entries

Here is an example of one of the rules which I created:

Brachy8_0-1610743948408.png

As you can see, I created the rule from inside the iOS Mail application, not from the Virginmedia e-mail application.

Could this be the problem?

That the iOS Mail is not transferring the rule to virgin properly?
