Increase in Junk Mail from Spoofed E-Mail Addresses

I mistakenly posted this on 'Security Matters' when I meant to post on this e-mail forum.

I have noticed in recent weeks an increase in junk mail sent from spoofed addresses which try to ape a few real e-mail addresses in my Address Book. Unlike a recent, very authentic-looking 'Amazon' scam e-mail, these are all caught in my junk mail folder and easily identified because the address is usually not 100% accurate and, invariably, its main content is a dodgy link.

I have informed the people with the genuine e-mail addresses but it seems there is little more they can do. The information that links our e-mail addresses is already out there. My question is whether others have noticed a marked increase in this kind of junk recently or is it just me?

Re: Increase in Junk Mail from Spoofed E-Mail Addresses

When you say spoofed addresses, what domains are these from?

Don't post full addresses, just what comes after the @ symbol.

I will check when I receive more. To date, I have simply erased them as quickly as possible. I would be nice if, by coincidence, there were no more. 😊
