IMAP Server Not Responding

The Virginmedia (NTL World) email has stopped working in my iPhone around 23rd August. I have checked the settings (IMAP and SMTP) and all appears fine including SSL and port numbers.

Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this as I have missed some important emails in the last few weeks.

Are you using the NTL world or virginmedia server information?
If NTL then try changing then to virginmedia.com.

Is this just on your iPhone or is it also on any other devices you have (if any)? And secondly, you are a current VM broadband user I assume?

I am using the virginmedia IMAP/SMTP settings.

I only use this on my iPhone, otherwise I check webmail about once per week from my pc,

Yes I am a VM broadband customer (since 2002 in fact).

There’s been some growing problems with iDevices not sending emails recently but I’ve not seen anything which is affecting receiving.
What model of iPhone do you have?
Was it purchased from Virginmedia &/or are you using a Virginmedia SIM card?
Can you send while on a cellular connection?

I am using an iPhone 6. It is from another provider (using their SIM too) and has been working fine for many years.

I cannot RECEIVE mails (via IMAP).

I can SEND them (via SMTP) without issue. 

Any ideas?

Can you receive while on the other provider’s cellular connection?
Is the problem affecting all emails being received or just certain senders?

No, I cannot receive on wifi or on cellular.

It is affecting ALL emails being received, as I get the error when I attempt to update my mailbox.
