I cannot send email from my Samsung S8.

Hello, Since my SIM upgrade I have not been able to send email from my Samsung S8 handset. I am receiving email ok but just can't send anything.

My outgoing settings are:

smtp.virginmedia.com

SSL

Port 465

My incoming settings are

imap.virginmedia.com

SSL

Port 993.

My Email address is [MOD EDIT: Personal info removed]

I have tried changing my smtp to (smtp.ntlworld.com) still no joy.

Please help

Are you a current VM broadband customer?  Are you still able to access via webmail?  What error message / codes do you get?

Also, you should edit your post to remove your personal details - that is bad practice to put out on an open forum.  You have another 20 or so minutes available, but I have notified the moderators.

Hello,

Yes I am a virgin media broadband customer and have no issues with home webmail except the issue I posted above. I simply cannot send email from my hand set. That includes a new email or replying to an email received .

I get a "Sending Failed"  no other notification or reason why.

'Sending Failed' - not the most helpful of error messages!

You've checked that webmail works OK which would indicate that the mailbox itself is intact and your credentials are correct. I'd next try setting it up using an email client on a PC or laptop - if this fails then hopefully it'll give some more useful information.

There's quite a few threads on here regarding email sending issues which appear to be related to over zealous spam checking which is triggering authentication denials.

Hi,

I can send email from my computer using webmail both at home and in the office. Issue is with my S8 Handset where I cannot send email when connect with either wifi or mobile data.

Don't use webmail to test as that doesn't prove anything, we need to setup an email client (Outlook, Thunderbird etc.) with the same settings as you use on your phone. If these fail as well (and I'me going to bet they will), then the connection logs should give more information as to the exact cause - something that the email client on the phone doesn't do

Ok

Thunderbird downloaded to my computer

Added my adrian.£&^%$^@(*&^&*.com account and password and the application set up the smtp and imap settings the same as my Samsung S8 by default.

send mail to a gmail address 

message sent ok and received ok

so what can it be with the Samsung S8 that I am missing
