I have an e-mail with a hyperlink I need to use , that has a line through it so won't work.
Is that email in your spam folder? Emails in the spam folder have any hyperlinks disabled by default. That's done to stop people inadvertently clicking on malicious links and ending up being scammed.
If it is in the spam folder or marked as spam and you are sure that the email is genuine and the link is not malicious then if you mark the mail as not spam it will move to the inbox and the link will be enabled.
However, if you are at all in doubt about the intentions of the sender, their email or its contents then do not use that link. I cannot stress that enough.
