How to reset password for blueyonder email accounts

Hi,

I have 2-3 active blueyonder accounts. I need to setup a new PC and cannot remember the passwords.

I have access to my virgin media account, but the old accounts are not listed. They were created when my husband had a blueyonder account for myself and the rest of the family.

How can I associate the emails with my VM account so I can manage them?

Thanks,

Sarah.

Sadly there is no way you can do that..

If those accounts were part of a now closed VM broadband account the only way VM can move them over to your current VM broadband account is by what they refer to as a "Move and transfer".

That is intended for the situation where a VM customer sets up a new VM broadband account and wants all the email accounts from their old account moved over to the new one. That means even if it was possible to do that in your case, those Blueyonder email accounts would replace any existing VM email accounts that you have set up on your account.

"I have 2-3 active blueyonder accounts. I need to setup a new PC and cannot remember the passwords."

In fact, even if these email accounts were linked to your present VM account it would not help you with the password problem. VM have recently removed the option to reset the passwords for secondary email accounts from the primary VM account. Each secondary email account now has its own "My Virgin Media" account but you need to know the secondary account password to access its "MVM" account!

They do have a "Forgotten password" process but I hesitate to even mention it because it relies on there being a "Password recovery" question set for the email account which in the case of these old blueyonder accounts is very unlikely. Just for completeness you could try entering the blueyonder address here  https://www.virginmedia.com/my-virgin-media/forgotten-details/password    and following the prompts but I suspect it will not work for you.

However, there is one other possibility to enable you to regain access to passwords. Do you still have access to your old PC? If so, you may be able to find the passwords stored in the browser you used to access these email accounts. Here's a link to a site that might be useful https://www.computerhope.com/issues

However I have to say there is still more bad news.

As these blueyonder accounts are now longer linked to a live VM broadband account they are at grave risk of being deleted by VM at any time. According to VM's own broadband Terms and Conditions, VM should have deleted them 90 days after the original broadband account was closed. In reality VM often failed to do that but they do seem to be having a purge on that recently. You may not be aware that VM stopped issuing new email accounts in May 2022 and although they still support the email accounts belonging to existing VM broadband customers  the long term future of the VM email service is unclear.

However, back to you immediate problem. The Forum Team (VM staff who support this forum) are best placed to give you definite advice on these Blueyonder accounts. However, there is only a skeleton staff on forum duty today and no one on duty tomorrow. One of the team will contact you via this thread but that will almost certainly not be until Tuesday 2/1/2023.

I suspect the best they can offer is to enable you to regain temporary access to these Blueyonder accounts to allow you to download any information that you need to keep. I don't think you will be able to continue using these accounts in the longer term.

Hey SarahBentley, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community I am sorry to hear you are struggling to get into your emails.

As mentioned above if these emails wore part of a account which no longer exists they would of been deleted.

We deactivate the accounts within 90 days of the disconnection.

When did the old account get disconnected? Thanks
