Is that your primary VM email account, so the one you use to sign in to your My Virgin Media Account (where you view your VM bill) or a secondary email account that you or the main VM account holder created back in the day?

As far as I am aware it is not possible to delete a primary email account. However Virgin Media are making so many changes in the background that things may have changed recently. The VM Forum Team (VM employees who support this forum) can advise you on that. One of them will contact you via this thread in the next day or so.

If it is a secondary email account you can delete the email account yourself from your main My Virgin Media Account. Bear in mind though that following VM's change of policy on their email service you can no longer create new VM email accounts.

To delete a secondary account sign into your main My Virgin Media account from here https://my.virginmedia.com/home/signIn  Then click on "Account settings" then "Account details".  Scroll down the page to "Manage other Virgin Media accounts", click on that and you will see a list of al your secondary email accounts. Against each one you will see the option to delete it.

Thank you for you reply.  I no longer have a Virgin Media Account (I am now with Gmail) ... I followed the link but am unable to sign in as password is not longer valid (it has clearly been changed by whoever hacked my account!)

@JoySM  If you no longer have a Virgin Media broadband account it may be that the email address has already been deleted by VM following the closure of your account.  This should happen 90 days after you leave.  So the account may not have been hacked.

The VM Forum Team will be able to check the status for you when they reach this thread.  In the meantime if you try to send an email to the old ntlworld address and get a delivery rejected reply back it would confirm that the email address no longer exists.

You could also try entering the email address in this email checked to see what it says about the status of the address: https://verifalia.com/validate-email

Hi Graham

Thanks for your reply - I have checked and it is still a valid e-mail address.  I still receive e-mails (mostly junk) to that address.  Many friends advise they are receiving worrying e-mails from me from that address which has clearly been hacked.  As I am unable to log in I can not close / deactivate the account.

I was told when I loved (5 years ago) that I could not keep the e-mail as I was no longer a Virgin client.  I created a new e-mail but the ntlworld address has remained active (it would have been so much easier if VM had closed it down!)

@JoySM  In that case the VM Forum Team should be able to get the account closed for you.  They should respond here shortly.
