I was not receiving emails to my ntlworld email inbox (auto forward to my Gmail account was the only way to get them) but was still getting spam into the spam folder HOWEVER I have accidently found out how to fix this
Firstly I disabled the auto forward then ....
Click settings
Click Email
Click Filter rules
Now have a right hand pane titled E-mail Filter Rules
Underneath that title the top box is titled Blacklist and cannot be edited etc
Scrolling down that list I found another box called Blacklist which was enabled so I disabled it
That sorted out the inbox issue which I checked by sending an email to myself
