Error code 0x800CCC92 from Outlook 2007 reading Virgin Email

I started using Virgin Media broadband recently. I was previously with BT. On 30/5/2020 I created three Virginmedia email accounts. I use Outlook 2007 to download my emails. This has been successfully working until 20/6/2020. Since then I have been getting an error code 0x800CCC92  Your e-mail server rejected your login. The server responded -ERR Invalid Backend.

This happens intermittently, to any account. I can get this message and do a Send/Receive seconds later successfully, without changing anything.

I had a similar problem with BT, caused by their email server running slowly, because of processes running in the background.

Re: Error code 0x800CCC92 from Outlook 2007 reading Virgin Email

Sorry. I found the solution on here, searching for "backend" -  https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/ERR-Invalid-Backend/m-p/4018539

"Just adding @virginmedia.com to my username has done the trick!"

I hope this is a permanent solution. It's working at the moent.

I don't know how to delete my post.

You don't need to delete the post. You leave so that others searching can find the answer.

Btw - if you use the virginmedia.com servers then you need to use your full e-mail address as your username. That is a requirement. See the set up helpfile here:
