Error 606

My husband has a new Chromebook, the same as mine. He has internet access but if he tries to access Virgin Media and/or emails, he gets ERROR 606. I am not having any trouble. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Error 606

That usually means that he is trying to send an email to a location which requires a SUBJECT to be entered as the email heading.

Re: Error 606

Hi Bill,

Unfortunately, he can't even access the email sign in page, so can't get as far as sending an email. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Re: Error 606

Let's start again.

Is this the very first attempt to use this device?

Are you following the instructions in the manual? If you don't have a copy on your C-Book, try this -

http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/Chrome%20OS%20User%20Guide.pdf

You say he has Internet access. A wired connection or Wifi?

Can he access any non-VM sites - such as BBC for example?

At which point does the 606 error appear - and is that the full error message?

Re: Error 606

Hi Bill,

We bought the Chromebook on Friday, and he had no problems with it until yesterday morning. We have a Virgin Media wifi hub. He has no problem accessing other websites - BBC, Facebook, etc. and I have had no interruption in my access to Virgin sites. As far as we know, we have set up the Chromebooks the same so don't understand why he is the only one with a problem.

We have tried to access the email login page via different routes but it just gives the same error page. The 'error 606' shows in the tab at the top. The page says there is problem with access or words to that effect.

Hope that's enough info. Thanks.

Re: Error 606

You said -

"The page says there is problem with access or words to that effect".

Please repeat the attempted access and report the EXACT wording of the error message.

Re: Error 606

OK. The Forum Team will have to escalate this. It looks like a database access issue. I have raised the flag.

Wait for a response from the Forum Team - may take some time.

Re: Error 606

Hi nancytownsend,

Thank you for your post. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're having.

Can I check have you been able to sign into the email account with other devices?
