Emails from Virgin Media Community updates getting sent to Spam Folder

Cripes .... now I'm finding legitimate emails from Virgin Community Forum updates getting sent to my spam folder!!

They're not going there because of my filters, as there's no orange flag associated with them. It's Virgin's filters. Come on ... it's been hard enough these last couple of weeks getting rid of crud from my inbox, but I'd prefer it if your own informative emails to me weren't escorted to spam by your filters 😡

The top two above are the second lot today, informing me of forum updates. I'd found two earlier and marked them as "Not Spam".

Re: Emails from Virgin Media Community updates getting sent to Spam Folder

Slightly pathetic, isn't it!

It has happened before (sometime in the past year) - but only for the new posts in one particular thread where the subject had a key word that triggered the spam filter.  Can't recall the key word.

To add to this - I have my email autoforwarded to a yahoo address, and they've been marking VM community email updates as spam for about a month now.

It's more than slightly pathetic 😂 it's flippin' laughable!

(...and so it goes on. Two more forum updates just popped into my spam folder).

Re: Emails from Virgin Media Community updates getting sent to Spam Folder

One of the last two sent to spam 2 minutes ago, didn't even mention "spam" or any other naughty word. It was from the MOD team informing me of a badge update 😕

Unless my forum name has become a spam-word.

Something is seriously amiss !!

Re: Emails from Virgin Media Community updates getting sent to Spam Folder

Today Gmail started putting all my forum notification emails in the spam folder.  The reason given by Gmail:

"Gmail could not verify that it actually came from virginmedia.co.uk."

So doesn't seem to be a keyword issue but an inability to verify the source of the email is authentic. 🙄

Just to add that this has been raised with the Forum staff for investigation.

Re: Emails from Virgin Media Community updates getting sent to Spam Folder

Thanks for letting me know, SCA1972,

I was beginning to think it was just me. I'll just keep marking 'em as not-spam until someone notices, or I get bored of doing it haha.

Re: Emails from Virgin Media Community updates getting sent to Spam Folder

@boothy99 I quickly got fed up of marking as not spam and created a rule in Gmail to never send them to spam.  Now I get a warning:

"This message was not sent to Spam because of a filter you created"

Thanks for that Google 🙄

Cheers Graham, ... just spotted your message after I'd sent in mine. Getting dizzy bouncing between inbox n' spam folders haha. Think I'll stick with checking for notifications online here 'till it's sorted.

Re: Emails from Virgin Media Community updates getting sent to Spam Folder

There's no point in marking it as not spam.  The mail is failing authentication checks, the DMARC policy for virginmedia.co.uk specifies that such mails MUST be quarantined.

Virgin Media are aware of the issue and I've also explained the cause to them.  In this case Virgin Medias inbound servers are actually working properly.  It's the sending side i.e. the Forum software that needs correcting.
