Email

All of a sudden my email on my iPhone has stopped working. I can receive emails still but it won’t let me send. It goes straight into outbox and says username or password is incorrect. How can this be if I’m still receiving emails?

I only have it on my phone I don’t use it on anything else

Thank you for coming back, can you try remove signing in via my virgin media, if your password isn't recognized click on forgotten password to reset it.

How do you do that? I don’t understand how it can just stop working? I’ve not changed any settings.

Hi Shaun,

 

It could be something with handset, the best way to check is to sign in to your emails here, if you don't know the password you can click on forgotten password.

Sometimes the password databases get out of sync.

Sign into My Virgin Media here:

https://my.virginmedia.com/home/index

Then to update the password follow these steps:

Sign in to My Virgin Media, go to My Profile and/or Manage Accounts depending on whether the account concerned is your primary account or an additional one. Select the account concerned and then click on Change to the right of password if a primary account or View/Change then change to the right of password for secondary accounts.

I’ve done that changed password then in the email settings on my iPhone changed the password to the one I’ve just changed it too and it’s still not sending emails. It stays in the outbox. It’s strange because I’m still receiving emails

Make sure you are putting the new password in the outbound server (SMTP) settings as well the IMAP server settings.

@ShaunBailey is this while the iPhone is connected via wifi, over the mobile network when outside, or both?
