I have just upgraded my pc with a large windows 10 update. It has wiped out all my blueyonder emails, contacts etc (with no warning) Are copies of the blueyonder emails kept on the server and if so how can I retrieve them ??

Re: Email problem

This depends on a few factors, how do you access your email account?, to see if emails on virginmedia server could log into your email account e.g. https://mail2.virginmedia.com/appsuite/

Re: Email problem

Hi paultechy thanks for your reply. I’m not sure what you mean but I’ve always accessed my blueyonder emails via outlook on my pc. After the windows updates they’ve all vanished. Is there any back up kept on the virgin Media servers, and if so how would I access them

regards

Re: Email problem

paultechy wanted to know what email client you used - outlook is an email client.  As advised, you can try webmail:  https://mail2.virginmedia.com/

But it only keeps a synchonised copy of what you had on outlook, assuming you used imap.  Virgin do not keep any backup.

Re: Email problem

Was this an upgrade (a new installation of Windows 10 over an older version of Windows) or an update of an existing Windows 10 installation? There is a difference.

In either event, configuring your email client to access your Virgin email account should provide access to emails currently held on the mail server.

Or, as noted previously, viewing your email account using webmail will do the same.

Virgin Media are not responsible for backing up your emails, that task is down to you.

Acceptable Use Policy: https://www.virginmedia.com/content/virginmedia/dotcom/en/shop/the-legal-stuff/acceptable-use-policy...

Email use

6.5. It is your responsibility to back up the contents of your Virgin Media email account.

Re: Email problem

Hi Sololobo thanks for your reply, this was an update to Win10. I do appreciate that I should have backed up emails, but in my (poor defence) I have used blueyonder for many years and never had an issue. would you have a walkthrough I could try to see if there’s anything I can salvage?. Fingers crossed.

Re: Email problem

I've had an extra think (I know - dangerous at my stage of existence).

If you mean, how do you get outlook to work? you'll need to google THAT or visit the outlook help site.  But here are the settings to get VM emails working in outlook https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-mail-how-to-use-email-with-mail-clients

If you no longer have outlook, I can recommend Thunderbird as free and easy to use.

Re: Email problem

Thanks for the assistance MissPasko. As I don't use VM webmail myself I would have struggled to provide a walkthrough.

Re: Email problem

Hi MissPasko

Thanks for reply/info

I have set up my blueyonder email in Outlook, but the only emails are ones received today and ones from 2005(very confusing) the update also wiped out all my email contacts.I just don't know if there's a way to access and recover my old emails.

Regards
