Email problem from Cctv dvr

I am receiving various error messages when I attempt to set up motion alert emails from my Cctv dvr it is as if the outgoing server just will not accept the DVR when I press test email and all ways returns one of a number of error messages

Without revealing security sensitive information can you:

  • post the error message text here
  • the email settings being used

Hello  " Very insightfull person." the error message is 

Mail was blocked, replace the message subject. 

smpt = virginmedia. com

Port = 465

Need SSL

The SMTP settings look correct but with the error message rotating amongst a group of error messages it cannot be relied on to help locate the cause. Does the issue just occur with Virgin Media or with other third party email addresses as well?

Hi very insightfull person when I use Gmail my initial error

message is  " failed to connect to server" the when I try again I get  " wrong username or password"

Please redact with care to avoid image rejection; last post revealed username due to poor redaction.

May need to create an app specific password, see Create & use App Passwords under Sign in with App Passwords

No idea why Virgin Media settings did not work, have you contact the CCTV DVR software developer for support.

PS I've come to the conclusion that the Smpt server will not accept emails from this device irrespective of the settings used " is this assumption feasible"
