Email forwarding and blacklisted IP

I forward my email from my own domain to VM and everything has been fine until recently my dynamic IP has changed to one which is backlisted on several spam lists and is now causing me havoc. Can someone from VM drop me a direct message when you get chance, thanks.

Re: Email forwarding and blacklisted IP

Hello

Sending an email from a dynamic IP address will cause a lot of problems, a lot of the email service providers will not allow the receiving of emails when it is sent from a dynamic IP address. Dynamic IP are used a lot by spammers to send unsolicited emails. Hotmail, Gmail are two who do not allow emails to be received when it is sent from an email server that is dynamic there are a lot of other with the same requirements.

Re: Email forwarding and blacklisted IP

Can you confirm how you currently receive your domains emails?  Do you run your own email server?

Also can you confirm which blacklist you are on?

Re: Email forwarding and blacklisted IP

Hi @Spookyville,

Thank you for your post and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.

I am very sorry to hear you're having a bit of trouble with your email services recently. Are these ongoing today for you?

If so, is this affecting all of the emails that you send, or is it only towards certain addresses?

Thanks,

Zach - Forum Team

Re: Email forwarding and blacklisted IP

Yes but as far as I can see only affecting one address so far, if you can DM me I can send the relevant details. Thanks.

Re: Email forwarding and blacklisted IP

Hi @Spookyville thanks for getting back to us.

Before we send any direct messages.  Have you read the advice of our fantastic community members?  Does what they're advising describe your current situation at all?

Regards

Lee

Re: Email forwarding and blacklisted IP

No it doesn't my emails are sent from my webhost from a static IP so if it's not too much trouble a DM would be appreciated.

Re: Email forwarding and blacklisted IP

@Spookyville

This is a community Forum, first responders are often community members who have a great deal of knowledge in the area's they specialise in.

Rather than the vague intimations you gave in your first post, would you like to explain exactly what is happening?  You don't need to give out personal information to give us some clue as to what is going on.

You made a reference to a change in your Dynamic IP causing havoc, so it's only natural to assume that you're hosting your email on a home server (not recommended but possible).

Based on your last post, perhaps you'd like to tell us what blacklists your dynamic IP is on?  For one thing, being on those blacklists SHOULD not affect your ability to send mail (the exception is being on Spamhaus' CSS and quite frankly Virgin Media's choice to use this on email submission is controversial and certainly not recommended by the blacklist providers).

Apart from that, your Dynamic IP being blacklisted will have NOTHING to do with the ability to receive mail forwarded from your Web host.

The community is ready to help should you wish.

Re: Email forwarding and blacklisted IP

@Lee_R

I'd recommend contacting Spookyville via PM as he obviously doesn't want to engage with the community.

Good luck!! - If you need any help once you know roughly what's going on, feel free to drop me a PM, I'll do what I can.
