Re: Email disappeared from folders going back more 10 years
We have seen this so many times. I'll bet a penny to a pound that target99 is using an Apple device to access his e-mails. The web is full of reports of the unexplained disappearance of e-mail when the device updates or when a user accidentally deletes mail and the Apple OS doesn't make the full extent of the deletion clear to the user. All ISPs are affected. GMail gets the lion's share of reports because huge numbers of people use GMail
If the mail is not in the VM trash folder then it is gone and gone for good. VM cannot retrieve mail deleted from trash whether deleted by the user or via misfortune like this.
Answer do not rely on your ISP to safeguard your mail. Back it up using something like Mailstore so it remains accessible or download it properly to an E-mail client on your desktop and keep it that way in local storage. Otherwise e-mail is ephemera.
We'll see if I am right.
