Email addresses

When I start to compose an email to myself (transfer of info from one location to another) I have noticed that there are six other email addresses attached to my user name none of which we have ever used. Have I been hacked? Three of the addresses end .cn and we have rarely contacted anyone in China. We have F Secure and kept it updated

Re: Email addresses

Is this in webmail? Yes, then the more likely explanation is the automatic collection of email addresses. To confirm this as the cause try:

  1. select Address Book (located near top left)
  2. select Collected addresses
  3. in the Search… text field enter *cn
  4. if the result list shows the .cn email address then the likely explanation is that they were automatically collected when emails were read
  5. repeat step (4) for the remain email addresses

FYI: to stop the automatic collection of email addresses select , Setting, ▸ Email, and untick Automatically collect contacts in the folder "Collected addresses" while reading under Common section

Re: Email addresses

Your advice looks spot on to me. I have deleted all of the collected addresses that I don't recognise and changed my settings. Thank you so much - really appreciated
