Email Issues

I have a virgin.net POP email on an iMac, which worked fine until I changed the password. Now it sends but does not receive. It asks for a password, I put the new one in, and get an "can't connect to account." message. Runs fine on iPad and iPhone with the new password. If I make changes to the account setup I get either the same message or (bafflingly) "a pop account already exists. Only a single POP account is allowed to be saved".

I have tried to change the settings to the Virgin recommended but it makes no difference - I still get the messages above.

As a new community member I would appreciate some good advice!
