Downloading all emails

I have been using Thunderbird happily but recently had a hard drive failure. I have setup Thunderbird on the rebuilt machine and new emails are downloading but now I would like to download all the emails from the virgin server not just new ones.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Re: Downloading all emails

Proceeding under the assumption POP3 is being used to receive new email one solution would be to add the same account using IMAP, copy the message over, and then delete the IMAP account.

Re: Downloading all emails

Yes, I am currently using POP3. So I can create a second "account" within Thunderbird which uses the same email address but setup as IMAP?

Re: Downloading all emails

Yes, that is correct.

FYI: be aware that if you amend account setting you will see the following warning:

Just prefix the the newly created IMAP Account Name with (IMAP) or another unique identifier value to address the warning.
