'Disappearing' emails

Why, (suddenly) do my VM webmail emails 'disappear' after I have read them? 

I don't delete them, but they now 'disappear' from my inbox!  If I then search for them I can find them, but their 'disappearance' is very, very annoying!

Anyone any ideas what is going on and why this is suddenly occurring?

Any advice or help would be most appreciated - thanks in advance.

Does changing the Sort resolve issue, for example to:
