Disappearing emails

Hi

I have my emails (pop3 ntlworld) on my android phone (Huwawei) About 2 weeks ago they started disappearing. They stay in the inbox for about 2 days then vanish, they are not in the delete folder. Strangely, I have another email account (IMAP virginmedia) on the same phone that is not affected.

I have both accounts on another android phone and it is not affected. I'm not deleting the emails from any device or from the server. I've contacted Huwawei but they say it's not a problem with the phone.

Can anyone offer any fixes?

I'm a bit of a technophobe so please keep any answers simple!

TIA

Re: Disappearing emails

If you are accessing the same email account from more than one device you ALWAYS want IMAP,

Okay, not a hard and fast rule but should sort your problem out, change the POP3 one to IMAP.

Re: Disappearing emails

You don't actually change it - just set up a new one in your email client(s) and delete the POP one.  Use the IMAP settings.https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Email-settings-change/td-p/3369438

Re: Disappearing emails

Miss PAsko thank you for your help and the link you provided. I've done as suggested ...now I have to wait. emails usually stay put for between 24/36 hours so it#ll be a couple of days before I can come back and let you know/

Thanks again

Re: Disappearing emails

More for information as use of IMAP is likely to resolve issue… It is likely your device / email client is configured to remove read emails from the Inbox after N days to maintain local storage; I suspect if such emails were moved to another local folder then they would not be deleted.

Not receiving emails

Hi

I posted earlier about emails disappearing from my phone and was given advice on some fixes which I've tried but have obviously done something wrong because  I'm not receiving emails. I deleted and re-installed the account on my phone but am getting this message

Login failed

Setup failed

REasons may be

The user name or password are incorrect (they're not)

The IMAP/ SMTP service is disabled Enable the service and try again

Can anyone tell me where/how I do this please

Thanks

Re: Disappearing emails

Thanks everyone, email accounts restored and message seem to be staying put

Changing to IMAP appears to have been the solution.
