Re: Disappearing Emails

Seems a common issue with Apple devices, there are frequent posts across the community refering to similar happenings.

Message 4 here provides a good analysis:

Re: Disappearing Emails

We have the same problem and have been trying since Thursday to get Virgin to engage. Absolutely no help at all and nearly three hours on the phone. Terrible service. Can anyone kindly help as to how one sorts an inbox that keeps emptying itself basically every 12 hours?

Re: Disappearing Emails

Follow the instructions in the linked post above and change the auto delete settings for the iOS device you are using.

Re: Disappearing Emails

What does this mean - “couldn’t find that setting on iOS in either the 11 iPhone 7 “ exactly?

I assume it means you are using an iPhone 11 – and if so since when and did the problem start immediately following a recent upgrade to it?

What does the 7 mean?

What other devices do you use – computer – Windows or Mac – webmail or client?

Other email access devices – tablets?

Re: Disappearing Emails

Evening,

The post stated

Go to iOS Settings -> Accounts & Passwords -> your email account -> Advanced -> Incoming settingsVarious options including - DeleteInbox incoming email after 1 day/week/month/Never etc, just choose Never.Safest thing is always to delete/tidy-up emails via the server and allow IMAP to sync content with other devices.

I tried on a iPhone 7 and daughter on a iPhone 11 ... these instructions we were unable to complete

cheers

tony

Re: Disappearing Emails

Most odd. Opening up your iPhone email app has obviously triggered a sync between the iPhone and the VM server.  That suggests it is the phone driving the delete process. Please confirm which app/IOS version the phone is using.

I now can’t find the source of the “Delete Inbox incoming email after 1 day/week/month/Never” which I quoted. I’ll have another look in the morning.
