If I mark an email as spam on my Android phone does that update the VM servers or make any difference to anything else. I do not use POP3 settings.

Hi Enduser
To my knowledge this is how making spam emails on any mobile device works if it works correctly.
once you mark it as Spam it moves the email in to the spam box it should then update your Settings page under Emails- black listed emails.
On your account and should always move these emails to Spam box for you.
it does not always work. But if you are having a big problem with spam and the emails are not getting black listed go on to your web browser and log in to your email on the VM website,
go in to settings click Emails then black list option is there.

Thanks for that, although it seems to be slightly at odds with my other reply.
I am aware that I can take more action on the VM webmail account, I was just asking if marking an email as spam on my phone would make any difference to VM's servers.

If you move an email into the VM spam folder via your phone it has the same effect as marking it spam within webmail.
If you phone mail app has it's own spam system then marking it as spam on the phone will not necessarily move it to the VM spam folder.
Some of the information given in the first reply you received is incorrect in that marking an item as spam in VM Mail does not add it to the blacklist. The VM blacklist facility is basically a filter that will move incoming email to the VM spam folder if it is not identified as spam by VM's own spam filter.

Thanks Graham.
I think that my answer is basically, no it doesn't.

It isn't as black and white as that. As I explained in message 5 it depends how you mark an email as spam on your android device. If you move it to the VM spam folder using an IMAP connection then that has exactly the same effect as marking it as spam within VM webmail.
If you use the devices spam system then it only marks it on that device.

But if you move it to the spam folder in the email programme provided by Samsung in this case, I assume that it dosn,t have any effect on the VM email app. This was my original question although I appear to have phrased it badly.
