Deleted Virgin account emails still. Coming through

Hello

I wonder if someone can’t help me, I am still getting emails for all the email address I set up when I was with you, would to be possible to log to my old address to remove them and what content is in them, I am getting nothing but spam and I believe this a is security risk.

But I have qot email addresses set up in my profile and they are all still working, but a tremendous amount of spam And bitcoin demands from scumbags is also coming through them and I don’t like the tough of virgin still having my emails sent through when they should have been closed down when we left Virgin.

This is a breach of security !!!!!!!

Please can someone let me get rid of these accounts ASAP

You have come to the right place, Shonky1.  I don't blame you for being worried.

As you seem to know, the mailbox should have been closed AND deleted automatically 90 days after you finished being a customer, according to VM's own Terms and Conditions. But the process fails all too often and leaves the former customer vulnerable to hacking and theft of personal and financial details (IMO, someone should definitely claim for damages from VM or complain to ICO!).

Only VM staff can raise a ticket to get the orphaned mailboxes deleted manually. The friendly Forum Team will visit this thread in the next few days and then take your personal details by private message.

When they say it is done, you can verify it is gone by running the email address(es) through https://mailtester.com.

In the meantime, if you still have access via an email client (try Thunderbird - using IMAP process which synchronises with the mailbox stored on the VM server), delete everything from all the folders to reduce the information available to hackers.

You are correct, we left two years ago, it’s disgusting, I don’t think the staff would help though and I even emailed the CEO’s

Appalling  show indeed !!! We have enough to worry about with the Covid 19 not hackers and spammers.
