Delete old ntl world emails

I have an old ntl world email account that I haven't used for years and assumed it wasn't active because I've left Virgin media. But after checking it, I can see it's full of spam and extremely threatening emails. I can't delete the account for some reason. Can someone delete this quickly for me. The emails are very upsetting and these poeple have also hacked into my old account and discovered the password. They could be sending emails now supposedly on my behalf.
