Delete Ntlworld Email account

I have an old legacy ntlworld email address that has been hacked. I havent been a customer for many years but the email has remained active. I am getting threatening emails demanding money sent from my own email address. Also anything linked to that email has been attacked and passwords changed not by me. I just want to delete the email address to put an end to my nightmare. I hope someone can help me
