I tried to create an additional email address yesterday, but it is not showing on the manage accounts tab in myvirginmedia. I did not get a confirmation email. The username is not available after waiting over 24 hours, but IS showing as valid on mailtester.com.
I sent some emails to the address and it doesn't bounce back (not in 15 minutes, at least). I wrote down the password correctly, but it does not allow me to sign in. I don't think there are any security questions set yet, as I did not get to that stage? Trying to change password tells me username not recognised.
The puzzle is the mailtester result and why the username hasn't released after 24 hours. It looks like the procedure for creation has stalled. The only solution is to get the Forum Team onto this to get it looked at.
Hi Alex_Rm - I haven't had any response or information in 7 days since raising this problem. I tried again this morning, but the address I requested is still not available, not linked to my profile, and yet showing as valid in mailtester.
I see some other people with the same problem, one thread says it is fixed, but doesn't say how. The last two may be a different problem with trying to change the username on the profile or require a Move & Transfer, rather than create a new mailbox, but I thought I would include them in case they are linked in some way. I am tempted to suggest that it be made into a megathread - but that is for the Forum Team to decide if it is a wider issue or account specific.
Can you find out how I/we can achieve what I/we want to do? Thank you, MissPasko
Sorry for the delay in a response from this, I have looked into this and the IT ticket is still open and being worked on by the team. I have asked Alex for this to be escalated but she has left for the day, I hope that she can provide you with a further update tomorrow.
The reason I mentioned all the other cases is that I have been reading EVERYTHING on the email board for the past 21 months. Just in my memory, this situation only crops up once every month or two. The general advice is to wait one day and then try the process again. Some people come back and say "that worked". Some don't come back to report any result so it could go either way - maybe they give up.
I don't recall any threads where they needed intervention by the Forum Team to create a ticket (again, just my memory!). But here are 6 cases in just 2 weeks, where waiting does not seem to work.
